Functions of the Agency are:

• Transferring the monuments into ownership and management;
• Monuments:

1. studying and recording;
2. monitoring and elaboration of the preservation programme;
3. efficient upkeep, organization and management of its upkeep;
4. restoration care;
5. organising the research and restoration projects;
6. organising restoration;
7. designing restoration and its performance within the Agency competency framework;

• Support of the documentary information database on the monuments and their preservation obtained as a result of the Agency operation;
• Cooperation with the state and municipal institutions, individuals and companies, foreign institutions within the framework of the Agency competency;
• Management and implementation of the municipal, state and international projects within the framework of the Agency competency;
• Popularisation of the monuments and their preservation;
  Securing accessibility of the database available with the Agency, distribution of information in different publications, mass media, etc.;
• Participation in different events on the cultural heritage preservation, usage and research problems in Latvia and beyond it;
• Promotion of the monuments integration into the city environment and public life;
• Performance of other functions that correspond to the Agency operation competency and are not in contradiction with laws and regulations of the Republic of Latvia and international standards in the field of cultural and historical heritage.
