Short description of functions

1. in compliance with the approved budget and estimates, to monitor the use of Riga City budget in the institutions funded by Riga City budget, in the executive bodies subordinate to Riga City Council and in the institutions under their authority, in municipal agencies (hereinafter – supervised institutions) and in municipal capital companies;

2. to check whether the financial activities of the heads and officials of Supervised Institutions and municipal capital companies are lawful and effective;

3. to organise auditing in supervised institutions, inviting audit companies or sworn auditors in the cases provided for by the law with remuneration for their work from the respective supervised institution or from Riga City budget;

4. to perform internal audits in Riga City Council’s supervised institutions and municipal capital companies;

5. to perform complex and thematic audits in the supervised institutions and municipal capital companies according to the resolution of the Mayor of Riga;

6. to coordinate internal audits in Riga City Council’s supervised institutions and municipal capital companies;

7. in accordance with the resolution of the Mayor of Riga, to prepare draft administrative acts in the cases when the administrative acts are disputed, according to the procedure of subordination, with the Mayor of Riga being the superior body.
