The Maintenance Directorate provides the structural units of the Riga City Council with premises, organises the management of rented buildings and premises.
To carry out its functions, it cooperates with other structural units and administrative bodies of the Riga City, state institutions and companies.
The functions of the Directorate are to:
• provide the staff of the structural units of the Riga City Council with premises and work places, organise the management of rented buildings and premises;
• maintain contractual relations with the subtenants of the premises transferred to the tenure of the Riga City Council;
• ensure preservation of the fixed assets in the structural units of the City Council, organise and take part in the asset inventory;
• ensure the implementation of labour protection measures and the establishment of a safe and harmless working environment in the structural units of the Riga City Council in accordance with the requirements set by the regulatory acts in the field of labour protection;
• ensure that the requirements set by the regulatory acts in the field of fire safety and electrical safety are observed in the managed premises;
• maintain contractual relations, organise cooperation with the suppliers and service providers involved in the provision of operating and maintenance activities in the Riga City Council;
• carry out the functions of the municipal contractor;
• ensure the preparation and storage of the Directorate’s documents in accordance with the procedure approved for the preparation and storage of the documents to be registered by the RCC Secretariat;
• within its competence, ensure the work of the Riga City Council, the structural units and the standing committees of the Riga City Council, as well as ensure the process of the meetings of the Riga City Council, the Presidium of the City Council, and other events;
• ensure the provision of operating and maintenance activities during the visits of delegations, as well as during various festivities organised by the Riga City;
• coordinate and ensure a rational use of the City Hall’s premises;
• supply the Riga City Council and the City Council’s staff with the necessary materials and technical equipment, except for those that fall within the competence of the Information Technology Centre of the Riga City Council; monitor the use of material resources, as well as the preservation and utilisation of material values;
• organise and coordinate motor transport services that are used by the administration of the Riga City Council, as well as by the structural units and the standing committees of the Riga City Council;
• carry out redecoration of premises and repair different kinds of inventory necessary for carrying out the Riga City Council’s activities;
• prepare decisions by the Riga City Council and the Presidium of the Riga City Council, orders by the Mayor of Riga and the Executive Director of Riga City regarding the issues within the competence of the Directorate.
